About Me Being Deaf

About Me Being Deaf

That hand sign above means I love you in sign language. Hopefully you can remember this sign as you check out this blog. πŸ™‚ I was born deaf, and grew up in the hearing world. I went to a deaf high school in 11th grade. There I learned sign language. It turned out I was too smart for the deaf school. So they had me skip 12th grade and sent me straight to college at N.T.I.D. in Rochester, NY. Going to a deaf college was a great change in my life. I was able to communicate with other deaf college students in sign language there. Then after I graduated from N.T.I.D. I found myself a good full-time job and have been working for the past 24 years. As you can see I was thrown back into the hearing world after leaving N.T.I.D. It’s been a struggle for me when the world doesn’t understand a whole lot about how to communicate with deaf people like me. Here I want to teach the world more about what it’s like to be deaf. And to help people understand better ways on communicating with people that can’t hear. I have two blogs. My other one is Susana the Deaf Lady at http://deaf47.blogspot.com/. You are welcome to look at both and feel free to comment or to make any suggestions if you would like. I have so much to say, so I decided to make this a general blog, as I like to write about many things such as fitness and health and blogging. I know so much about deafness, so feel free to ask me anything you want to know when it comes to being deaf. I hope you enjoy my articles, and good luck to all of you. πŸ™‚

  9. Hi, Wanda-

To add a photo to your gravatar, hover your cursor in the upper right hand corner on the WordPress toolbar on your blog, over your blog’s name. You should see a dropdown menu with an option of “Settings.” Click on that, and your gravatar account information should appear on a new screen.

Choose the “Public Profile” option, and near the bottom of that screen is an option to change your current gravatar photo (which is none). When you click on that, a new screen will appear that walks you through the different ways you can add a photo.

    Hope this helps!
